Hospitality

Place of birth: Hobart

Year of birth: 1945

Lived in Launceston: 38 years

Crossing the Mason Dixon line in 1977 I ventured to Launceston from Hobart to partake in my first real commercial venture at the Royal Oak Hotel.
Intending to stay no more than 2 to 3 years, I didn’t even bother to learn the street names, but was overcome by the charm and pace of a city that simply grabbed me before I knew it.  Still at the Royal Oak Hotel, having been in Launceston now for over 38 years,  I am almost considered a local.
