When we first moved to South Launceston in 1985 ... well ... it was on the verge of rural. Dawn, every morning moved her horse (a trotter of course) past our house to a not very well fenced off allotment up the hill. Often we would have to catch this horse as it returned home before times. On Saturday morning the forecourt of Champs house with its striking curved front in Leonard Street would be crammed with cars of all kinds needing the assistance that only an electrical specialist such as he could provide ... And everywhere the reminders of the Chinese market gardens ... Chungong Crescent, the remains of greenhouses and the stories.
